Water Wise for Life: Make Earth Day Every Day

Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22, as a day dedicated to support environmental awareness to build a better and brighter future for tomorrow. The theme for 2025 is “Our Power, Our Planet,” and encourages people to unite behind renewable energy and reduce waste.


Small Changes with Big Impact

Rainbow Water celebrates Earth Day every day as an advocate for water use efficiency. Below are ways you can help reduce waste through meaningful changes that have a lasting impact.

Prevent Water Waste
Every leak matters when it comes to water waste and your water bill. 

  • Regularly check for surface leaks around dishwashers, faucets, shower heads, toilets and washing machines. 
  •  Only run full loads for the washing machine and dishwasher. 

Shop Local
Support local growers and the community by shopping at farmers markets.

Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse

  • Sort your trash and set aside plastic bottles, cans and paper to the recycling bin
  • Clear dry brush from your yard and recycle tree trimmings at

  • Avoid tossing out gently worn clothing or household items and donate to second hand store
    Donate to:
    Goodwill of San Diego County:  schedule a donation pick up and more at Goodwill of San Diego County's website.
    Hidden Treasures Thrift Store in Downtwon Fallbrook: visit the Hidden Treasures website for times and drop off information.

Rebates to Upgrade Your Home 

A variety of residential rebates are available with SoCal WaterSmart:

  • Upgrade to a high efficiency washing machine or toilet to reduce water waste.
  • Collect rainwater with rain barrels and cisterns to water your garden.
  • Replace turf and trees with native California Friendly plants.
