County Hazard Mitigation Plan

San Diego County Hazard Mitigation Plan
When disasters strike—like a wildfire, flood, or earthquake—San Diego County needs a clear plan to keep people safe and protect homes and property. The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (Plan) is the guide. It identifies hazards and risks that could affect our communities, as well as ways we can reduce the impacts of disasters.
San Diego County is updating the Plan in 2026 and 2027, and your feedback is very important. Community stakeholder feedback helps ensure that the Plan reflects changes in both the hazards threatening San Diego County and the programs in place to minimize or eliminate them. The Plan is updated every five years to include current hazards, risks, and potential actions to reduce their impact.
