Celebrating 25 Years of Water Awareness Calendars
Each May, North County Water Agencies (NCWA) recognizes “National Drinking Water Awareness Month” by partnering in a Drinking Water Awareness Poster Contest for elementary age students. This year we are commemorating 25 years of community involvement and education in water conservation and drought conditions and the ongoing impact on our local communities.
This program brings local elementary students and teachers together with participating local San Diego County Water Authority agencies members in a creative and thought provoking activity to bring awareness to the community on how drought conditions and water conservation affects us and encourages innovation, creativity, and public involvement.
Posters are created by fourth graders as part of the Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest. The posters depict a scene of the contest theme, along with an original slogan or conservation message. These poster entries are judged and the top three winners are submitted for entry into the poster contest to be eligible to then be incorporated into the colorful annual calendars.
