Emergency Aqueduct Shutdown
The San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) is shutting down the aqueduct pipeline once again to remove the bulkhead installed during September’s shutdown and return the pipeline to everyday operations. This shutdown is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 4, 2019 and remain in effect for approximately 7 days.
As a result, the water flows to the southern region of the District will be limited, specifically customers located south of Hwy 76. Therefore, Rainbow Municipal Water District (District) is asking customers to curtail OUTDOOR IRRIGATION beginning November 4, 2019 through the duration of the shutdown. We are asking these customers to refrain from water use for activities such as; large landscape projects, washing of vehicles or filling pools, spas or ponds during this emergency shutdown period.
We also strongly encourage these customers to deep soak their groves and landscaping PRIOR to November 4th to minimize the impact to our water supply in the event of Red Flag warnings.
Thank you all for your support during the September shutdown. Your cooperation during this event is also greatly appreciated. Any updates to the schedule will be provided on this website. For additional information please go to the SDCWA website or contact us at (760) 728-1178.
