Dig Alert Service
Dig Alert Service

DigAlert is a non-profit mutual benefit corporation funded completely by the utility members and was formed in 1976. Excavators and utility members are required to contact DigAlert prior to starting a project related to ground breaking.
DigAlert is a free service provided to nine Southern California counties (Imperial, Inyo, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Riverside and Ventura) in an ongoing effort to ensure that preventable accidents stay prevented.
The CA Government Code 4216 mandates anyone performing any type of digging in the public right of way, with power driven equipment or when a permit is required to contact DigAlert prior to excavation. Failure to comply with the law will result in state fines and repairs to underground utility lines.
